Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join a successful, global B2B publisher. The role offers the possibility to be either office-based (Shrewsbury or Bath) or remotely based.

  • You will be part of a dynamic team, within the Sales Function, that is focused specifically on New Business; driving new revenue growth through successfully acquiring new Logos across the full range of Membership services.
  • You will be given a pipeline of well-qualified leads from some of the world’s most successful companies, from a wide range of industry sectors.
  • You will be responsible for proactively developing these into strong prospects, from which you will drive and report on activity through to successful close.


  • A broad range of commercial experience, and a proven track record of developing a strong new business sales pipeline from first contact to final sale is essential (specific experience within a Subscription Sales business an advantage)
  • Demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding on personal sales performance against targets; with particular strength in new business/hunter-focussed activity
  • Strong pipeline management and reporting skills; familiar with the need for attention to CRM and Opportunity management tasks, and comfortable with visibility of pipeline and regular reporting.
  • Excellent relationship-management and development skills; with proven ability of working with senior and mid-level decision making units.
  • High levels of professionalism and personal drive, and the ability to work independently (remotely) and to deadlines; managing multiple tasks and driving towards sales targets
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Team player, willing to contribute and engage in a developing work environment
  • Educated to degree level preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience with CRM software e.g. Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics
  •  Minimum three (3) years’ experience in sales
